Tammy Owens
Tammy obtained her BSN, RN from Brenau University in 1990 and her MSN, APRN from Kennesaw State University in 2004. Since becoming a nurse practitioner, she has provided care to seniors in internal medicine, emergency rooms, home health care, and hospice care.
Throughout her 20 years of nursing experience, Tammy has developed a deep respect for seniors and a strong desire to help them find the best possible care when they reach a point in life where assistance with activities of daily living becomes necessary. This may include ambulating, bathing, medication administration, cooking, eating, dressing, housekeeping, and many other tasks that are often taken for granted.
Her career in nursing helped her recognize the often-overlooked need to assist seniors in planning for and affording high-quality care when they are no longer able to care for themselves independently. With the right guidance and resources, this can often be accomplished without exhausting a lifetime of savings.
In addition to her extensive professional experience, Tammy has a firsthand understanding of these challenges through her own family’s experiences with cancer. She navigated her father’s and grandmother’s care journeys and was fortunate to have her grandmother live with her during the final two years of her life, supported by in-home caregivers provided through the local Area Agency on Aging and Medicaid.
